Retaining Walls across Launceston

Enquiries come from across Launceston. Four pages are written around one sourced fact each: South Launceston, where the State's geological survey monitors the Lawrence Vale landslide; Invermay and Newstead, two floodplains behind levees; and Windermere, where our own overlay of the LIST layers finds the City's only polygon in the landslip overlay's High band.

Where we work

Every area below is a locality of the City of Launceston, so one council's Building Department and planning scheme apply across the service area, alongside the State's rules. Each page adds the one source a government page or layer gives for the place, and says plainly where the source is a map and not a rule.

One council

The local lines on these pages are the City of Launceston's, alongside the State's. Localities outside the council area, among them those that only touch it, are not covered here.

Areas without a page

The rest of the service area is covered on the same terms, among them East Launceston, West Launceston, Mowbray, Norwood, Kings Meadows and Punchbowl. A page was written where a source gave a locality something that changes the job. Norwood and Punchbowl carry mapped landslip bands too, and could have had landslip-only pages; we have not read anything about either that the South Launceston page does not already say. We did not read the City's own hazard pages, so no page says a locality is the only one of its kind except where the layer itself shows it.
